HARVEY LAWRENCE

Hi, I’m Harvey Lawrence, a final year Games Design student at the University of Staffordshire, specialising in Level Design. I have a strong passion for crafting realistic, immersive environments that draw players in and enhance the gameplay experience.

 

My primary tool is Unreal Engine, where I bring my ideas to life through detailed world-building and thoughtful gameplay flow. That said, I’m a quick learner and adaptable as I’ve picked up other engines and tools efficiently when projects have required it.

 

Whether it’s building atmospheric worlds, designing engaging gameplay spaces, or fine-tuning player progression, I’m always striving to create experiences that feel polished, purposeful, and fun.

LEVEL DESIGN

Portal 2 Laser Chamber

Portal 2 level focused on lasers.

 A custom Portal 2 level consisting of three interconnected test chambers. The goal was to create a learning-driven experience that gradually introduced players to core mechanics, with a strong focus on the laser (thermal discouragement beam) system.

Environmental Level Design

Slyce

Cinematic focused on environmental storytelling.

As part of my final year module, I designed and built a Rocket Racing level using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). With a clear vision in mind, I aimed to create a high-speed, high-octane experience set in a stylized desert environment.

Environment Optimisation

Optimising a large scale envirionment in Unreal Engine 5.

This project focused on enhancing performance and efficiency within a large-scale, high-fidelity environment built in Unreal Engine.
